The company, which has a 30% income difference between men and women within the same profession, prides itself on having women in managerial positions. Veer Steel Director Sachin Ahuja acknowledges the challenges faced by women in a male-dominated industry and is ready to address any difficulties they encounter within the company.
Windy Nqgwaku, the first female employee at Veer Steel Mills since 2012, credits her hard work and dedication for her success. She began as a cleaner and has since been promoted to a managerial position. Veer Steel Mills female HR manager Siddicqa encouraged other young female employees to work their way up within the steel industry and not be intimidated by men. She believes that Veer Steel has a learnership and encourages female employees to go and thrive.
The company is also going an extra mile by empowering "a girl child" at higher institutions of learning through their bursary program. In commemoration of Women's Day celebration, Veer Steel Mills will award two bursaries to two females to pursue careers in the steel industry. This initiative highlights the importance of empowering women in the steel industry and promoting equality within the industry.
