Inspections were made under the leadership of Edirne Governor Yunus Sezer for the bridge planned to be built between Türkiye'S İpsala and Greece's Kipi border gates. Yunus Sezer, who examined the area where the bridge will be built, stated that the bridge will accelerate the crossings between the border gates, while evaluating that the existing 2-lane bridge between the border gates, built in 1958, is not sufficient.
Construction of the bridge, which is planned to start this year, will be carried out by the General Directorate of Highways on the Turkish side and by the Greek government on the Greek side. It is expected to contribute to transportation in the field of passenger and freight transportation. The main length of the bridge will be 811 meters and the section over the river will be 344 meters long. There will also be an emergency road and sidewalks.
Project works of the bridge, which is planned to consist of 4 lanes as double round trip, is now at the end.
