Metinvest's joint venture, Zaporizhstal, is restarting blast furnace No. 2 for the first time since the Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
“Since March last year, production of blast furnace No. 2 has been suspended. Before the launch of the blast furnace, extensive work was carried out to ensure production with sufficient raw materials. Today we have a solution that will allow us to increase production, but also increase our contribution to government budgets and attract foreign exchange revenues to the national economy," said Roman Slobodyanyuk, General Manager of Zaporizhstal.
3 blast furnaces will now operate in the factory
The blast furnace is expected to reach its planned production capacity in the first ten days of April. The operation of the three blast furnaces will increase the daily production at the Zaporizhstal plant to 8,000 tons of pig iron.
