Zaporizhstal Iron and Steel Works announced production results for June 2024. Thus, the production of commercial rolled metal products increased by 38.7% in June 2024 compared to June 2023, reaching 183 thousand tonnes.
The volume of pig iron smelted during the month was 237 thousand tonnes, up 0.2% year-on-year, while steel production was 236.7 thousand tonnes, up 48.5% year-on-year.
However, compared to May 2024, rolled steel production fell by 10.3%, steel by 1.5% and pig iron by 1.3%. The month-on-month decline in the company's performance continued for the second month in a row. In May, this was due to the shutdown of blast furnace No. 2 for overhaul.
In the first six months of 2024, rolled product output grew by 46.4% year-on-year to 1.23 million tonnes, compared to the same period in 2023. Pig iron output was 1.53 million tonnes, up 33.3%, and steel output was 1.49 million tonnes, an increase of 45.8% compared to the first half of 2023.
During 2023, the plant operated at an average of 70% of its capacity. In 2023, the mill produced 2.7 million tonnes ofof pig iron, 2.5 million tonnes of steel and shipped over 2 million tonnes of rolled products.
