The production of steel products at the Zaporizhstal steel making plant continues to show impressive growth. According to the latest data for March 2024, the volume of commercial rolled metal products increased by 45.5% compared to the same period last year and reached 219.4 thousand tonnes. This growth in production was supported by a significant increase in pig iron smelting and steel production 273.1 thousand tonnes of pig iron (up 41.1%) and 260 thousand tonnes of steel (up 41%).
Compared to the previous month, rolled steel production increased by 10.5%, while pig iron and steel production grew by 9.8% and 10.4%, respectively.
In the first quarter of 2024, total rolled metal production increased by 88.9% yoy to 615,300 tonnes. Pig iron smelting amounted to 785,400 tonnes (up 71.4%) and steel production to 731,000 tonnes (up 85.7%).
These impressive results allowed Zaporizhstal to increase its production by 50.6% yoy to 7.24 million tonnes in 2023. Among the main production indicators, pig iron smelting increased by 35.3%, steel production by 65.4% and rolled steel production by 57.2%.
