Worldwide Stainless has achieved another significant milestone in Malaysia’s stainless steel sector by acquiring Bahru Stainless Sdn Bhd for USD 95 million. The company aims to fully re-launch operations, making Bahru Stainless the leading cold rolled stainless steel producer in the region.
The acquisition further underscores Bahru Stainless’ strategic importance in Malaysia’s industrial infrastructure, despite the fact that it had ceased its core operations earlier in the year. Under the leadership of industry veterans Danny Tan, Chung Shan Tat and Datuk Tan Kak Seng, Worldwide Stainless has accelerated its efforts to re-position Bahru Stainless as a global stainless steel manufacturing leader.
According to information obtained by SteelRadar, the plant, which is currently continuing production with the ZM1 line, plans to commission the AP2 line next week, with the first coil expected to enter production by the end of next week. Worldwide Stainless will continue to focus on long-term growth and sustainability goals after the stabilization of the production process and the improvement of product quality.
