World Steel Association announced; 4 Turkish companies among the top steel producing companies in 2022

The World Steel Association announced the list of the top steel producing companies in the world for 2022. In the list, 4 Turkish companies from the previous period's data were included again. Turkey's most powerful companies with their production continue to show themselves in the global market.

The steel sector, which has been affected by many periods such as the energy crisis and the election process after the Kahramanmaras-centered earthquakes, the disaster of the century in our country, continues on its way without slowing down. The companies, which periodically reduced their capacity utilization at some time periods, managed to enter the list of the world's largest steel producing companies in 2022. Erdemir Group, Tosyalı Holding, Habaş and İçdaş were included in the list.

Erdemir reduced its production tonnage and moved only one place in the list

Erdemir, which produced 9.02 m/t steel in 2021, produced 7.79 m/t steel in 2022, falling from 47th to 48th place in the list. According to these data, Erdemir recorded a 13.6% decrease in steel production compared to the previous year. Despite these data, Turkey maintains its top position in steel production.

Tosyalı Holding increased its production by 1%

While Tosyalı Holding produced 4.68 m/t of steel in 2021, it increased this figure by 1% to 4.71 m/t in 2022. In the light of these data, Tosyalı Holding continued to rank second in Turkey's steel production and rose from 82nd to 72nd in the list of the world's top steel producers.

Habaş dropped from 83rd to 91st place

Habaş, one of Turkey's well-established and powerful companies, recorded a 16.8% decrease in steel production in 2022. In 2021, Habaş produced 4.54 m/t of steel, falling to 3.81 m/t in 2022. It remains Turkey's third largest steel producer.

Icdas also recorded a decline in production

In 2022, Icdas fell from 101st to 105th place in Turkey's steel production compared to 2021. The company, which produced 3.53 m/t steel in the last list, produced 3.13 m/t steel in the new list. İçdaş, one of Turkey's leading steel producers, ranks fourth in Turkey in terms of production and continues its success in shaping the market.
