Wire mesh is a concrete steel with high strength and generally used in construction, which is manufactured by cold drawing and ribbing from S220 steel.
Ribbed high quality wire mesh rods with increased strength are obtained by cold drawing of St IVb iron in coils by changing its physical properties, straightening and cutting into desired lengths. Wire mesh is obtained by placing the obtained high quality rods perpendicular to each other at certain intervals and joining them with spot welding.
Wire Mesh is mainly manufactured as 2 types,
1. R type wire meshes for construction elements working in one direction,
2. Q type wire meshes for construction elements working in double direction.
Type R wire meshes are used in floors and support accessories that work in one direction. If the length bar spacing is 150mm in R type meshes, the width bar spacing is 250mm. TR type wire meshes are produced as the opposite of R type wire meshes. If the main reinforcement is the width bars and the spacing is 150mm, the length bars are 250 - 300mm and are generally used as support reinforcement.
Q type wire meshes are used in floors running in both directions and reinforced concrete structural elements. Length and width bar ranges are 150 - 100 mm.
Standard wire meshes are 5.00 x 2.15 m in size, and easy to transport. Width and length bars are produced individually. It is produced in special wire meshes other than standard wire meshes. Maximum length bar is 12m, maximum width is 3.20m, cm2/m special wire meshes is produced in each section.
In Which Areas are Wire Meshes Used?
Floor coverings are among the most important areas where wire meshes is used. Reinforcement selection and workmanship is extremely important as they are exposed to variable moving loads. Wire mesh models are among the most suitable materials that you can choose in collective housing. Wire meshes with symmetrical floors are also extremely easy to use.
Dams and canals are another area of use for wire mesh. Wire mesh must be used in floor concretes. It can be used in subway and tunnel constructions with its functional properties. Wire mesh, which has an extremely wide area of use, is also used in the construction of field and road concrete, tunnel formwork system, prefabricated structures, curtain and retaining walls.
Wire Mesh Standards
In our country, standard TS 4559 is in force regarding wire mesh. For wire mesh reinforced concrete calculations, it is necessary to look at TS 500 and the regulation on structures in disaster areas. Wire mesh can be produced in accordance with DIN 488 (German), ASTM A 185 (American), BS 4483 (British), French and Greek norms. The exposure numbers in the market list of the Ministry of Public Works are 04-305/1, 04-305/2, 23010 and 23011.
