Vietnam imposes 27.83% anti-dumping duty on China’s hot rolled steel coils

Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade has decided to impose a temporary anti-dumping duty of 27.83% on hot rolled steel coils imported from China.

Vietnam imposes 27.83% anti-dumping duty on China’s hot rolled steel coils

In an announcement made on Friday, the ministry stated that the duty follows an investigation initiated in July 2024 regarding products imported from China and India. Hot rolled steel from India is not subject to any anti-dumping duty, the ministry added.

The anti-dumping duty will apply to products under specific HS codes, including 7208.25.00, 7208.26.00, 7208.27.19, among others. The ministry also has the authority to adjust the list of products subject to the tariff.

While the 27.83% tariff rate applies to all Chinese producers, some companies will face lower rates. For example, Hebei Yanshan Iron and Steel and its affiliates will face a rate of 26.94%, and Guangxi Liuzhou Iron and Steel, Luizhou Iron & Steel, and Guangzi Iron and Steel, along with their affiliates, will face a rate of 19.38%.

This decision will take effect 15 days after issuance (from March 8, 2025) and will be valid for 120 days. The Ministry of Industry and Trade will issue final decisions later.

According to customs data, Vietnam spent $1.21 billion on iron and steel products in January, a 23.3% decrease year-on-year. China was the largest supplier, with $736 million in imports, marking a 26.7% decrease compared to last year.
