President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in the beginning of July reviewed a report on the ongoing work and progress in implementing investment projects in the field of geology. Over the past six months, Uzbekistan has produced almost 3 million tonnes of coal. Underground mechanised complexes have been fully put into operation in Shargunkumir coal deposit, due to which daily coal production has reached 3.5 thousand tonnes.
In the second half of the year it is planned to produce more than 5 million tonnes of coal. In general, it is expected that this year coal production will increase by 1.4 million tonnes compared to last year.
The industry is also implementing a number of investment projects. In particular, China's Henan, a large state-owned company specialising in coal mining and the chemical industry, plans to allocate $400 million in direct investment to develop the Nishbash deposit. As a result of this project, it is planned to mine up to 8 million tonnes of coal underground and process 5 million tonnes of coal per year.
