According to the latest Census Bureau data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US imported about 55,500 tonnes of wire rod in March this year, down 21% m-o-m and 67% y-o-y.
Of these, imports from Canada accounted for the largest share at around 29,000 tonnes, up 15.8% m-o-m and down 3.6% y-o-y. Japan ranked second with around 9,400 tonnes, followed by Mexico with 6,600 tonnes and Egypt with 4,400 tonnes.
During the period, the value realised from these imports was about US$59 million, down 12.8% month-on-month and 66.8% y-o-y.
