However, week-over-week production saw a decline. In the week ending September 14, 2024, production was 1,749,000 net tons with a capability utilization rate of 78.8%, representing a 2.4% decrease for the week ending September 21, 2024.
Year-to-date crude steel production through September 21, 2024, totaled 64,566,000 net tons, with a capability utilization rate of 76.8%. This represents a 1.6% decrease from the 65,634,000 net tons produced during the same period in 2023, when the capability utilization rate was also 76.9%.
