The weekly crude steel production in the US increased by 4.8% compared to the same period last year. In the week ending September 7, the US produced a total of 1,772,000 net tons of crude steel, with a capacity utilization rate of 79.8%. This was an increase compared to 1,691,000 net tons and a capacity utilization rate of 74.4% in the same week of 2023.
On a weekly basis, production in the week ending September 7 increased by 0.7% compared to the previous week, the week ending August 31. In the previous week, production amounted to 1,760,000 net tons and the capacity utilization rate was recorded as 79.2%.
The year-to-September 7 figures show total crude steel production of 61,110,000 net tons and a capacity utilization rate of 76.7%. However, this represents a decrease of 1.8% compared to the 62,251,000 net tons and 76.9% capacity utilization rate produced in the same period in 2023.
