U.S. weekly crude steel production increased

U.S. crude steel production saw a modest increase in the week ending July 27, registering a 2.4% rise from the same week last year, while also showing a 0.6% decrease from the previous week.

U.S. weekly crude steel production increased

The United States recorded a slight increase in crude steel production for the week ending on July 27, achieving 1,729,000 net tons with a capability utilization rate of 77.9%. This represents a 2.4% improvement compared to the same week last year, which saw production at 1,689,000 net tons with a utilization rate of 74.3%.

However, production also faced a slight reduction from the preceding week ending July 20, during which 1,739,000 net tons were produced with a utilization rate of 78.3%. This week-to-week change resulted in a 0.6% drop in production.

Year-to-date statistics reflect a minor downturn. As of July 27, the year-to-date crude steel production totaled 50,772,000 net tons at a capability utilization rate of 76.6%. This represents a 2.1% decrease from the same period the previous year, which recorded a production of 51,880,000 net tons at a utilization rate of 77.3%.
