US Steel Kosice (USSK) has three blast furnaces with a total capacity of 5 million tons of pig iron and produces hot-rolled, cold-rolled and hot-dip galvanized coils, according to foreign sources.
US Steel Kosice (USSK) reported that it is considering shutting down one of its blast furnaces due to slowing steel demand across Europe. However, no date has yet been set for the shutdown.
The company has been operating all three furnaces since January 2023, but demand for flat steel in Europe has recently declined. Buyers expect prices to fall.
