The US International Trade Commission (ITC) has initiated a comprehensive end-of-term review of countervailing duties on imports of hot rolled steel sheet from India, Indonesia and Thailand and antidumping duties on the same product from China, India, Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand and Ukraine.
The ITC's move is intended to assess the potential impact of the elimination of these duties on the US steel industry. The Commission will conduct a detailed analysis to determine whether the elimination of these duties will lead to the continuation or re-emergence of material injury to domestic producers for the foreseeable future.
The review is part of the US effort to protect the steel industry and review the impact of import duties. A particular focus of the review will be the impact that imports from major producing countries such as China, India and Taiwan could have on the US market.
