According to data from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), US raw steel production recorded approximately 1.72 million net tons in the week ending August 3. This figure represents a decrease by 0.4% from the previous week, but an increase by 0.6% y/y.
During the same period, the capacity utilization rate for steel production facilities reached 77.5%. This represents a decrease by 0.4% w/w but an increase by 2.3% y/y.
As of August 5, US raw steel production has totaled approximately 52.42 million net tons year-to-date, representing a decrease by 2.2% compared to the same period last year. Capacity utilization rate has also decreased by 0.8% compared to last year, falling to 76.5%.
