US imports of line pipe fall sharply in September: South Korea leads the way

According to the latest data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of line pipe decreased significantly in September. During this period, a total of 55,540 metric tonnes of line pipe were imported, down 18.3% on a monthly basis and 31.6% compared to the same period last year.

The value of imports decreased to $85.2 million from $101.4 million in the previous August, a significant decrease from the $136.5 million recorded in September last year.

Looking at the details, South Korea was the largest importer of line pipe for the US in September. However, imports from South Korea represented a 22.4 per cent drop from the 35,829 mt recorded in August and the 36,429 mt imported in the same period last year. South Korea was followed by Brazil with 8,395 mt, Mexico with 5,195 mt, Canada with 3,256 mt and India with 2,693 mt.

This situation provides important clues about the general trend in US line pipe imports and global market dynamics.
