U.S. Department of Commerce identifies subsidies in Turkish steel industry

The U.S. Department of Commerce (USDOC) has concluded its investigation, determining the provision of countervailable subsidies to producers and exporters of rebar from Türkiye. The investigation covered the period from January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2021.

According to the findings, Kaptan Demir Celik Endustrisi ve Ticaret and Kaptan Metal Dis Ticaret ve Nakliyat have been assigned net countervailable subsidy rates of 5.54%, while Colakoglu Metalurji's rate was set at 0.03%. These determinations come as part of the USDOC's ongoing efforts to ensure fair trade practices and protect domestic industries.

Furthermore, the USDOC's investigation revealed that several companies had no entries of subject merchandise during the Period of Review (POR), effective from December 7, 2023. This decision underscores the department's commitment to maintaining a level playing field in the global steel market.
