US crude steel production rose by 1.6% in the week ending January 6th. Total output for the period reached 1.707 million short tons, up 1.6% from the previous week and 1.6% year-on-year.
Industry analysts attribute this significant increase in production to strong demand and the ongoing economic recovery efforts. The capacity utilization rate also reflected this positive trend, registering a notable weekly increase of 3.8% and a solid 1.7% y-o-y rise to 76.9%.
As of January 6, the year-to-date adjusted figures for US crude steel production stood at around 1,707 million tons, marking a promising start to the new year for the domestic steel industry.
