Türkiye's steel exports increased by 7.5% y/y in September, reaching USD 1,474,316,000.

According to data from the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), the steel sector made its highest export in September to Romania, reaching USD 156,240,000. The countries following Romania are Italy with USD 83,054,000, Spain with USD 73,870,000, Germany with USD 63,536,000 and the United Kingdom with USD 62,596,000.

Exports to Palestine Increased by 30,930.5%

Another notable development in the steel sector in September was the significant increase in the Palestinian market. Steel exports to Palestine, which were USD 156,000 in September 2023, increased by 30,930.5% to reach USD 48,626,000 in the same period this year. This rapid growth in exports to Palestine demonstrates Türkiye's strengthening trade relations in the region and its commitment to expanding into new markets.

Following Palestine, the highest export increase was seen in Spain, at USD 44,983,000. Romania followed with USD 39,575,000 and Italy with USD 35,740,000. The rise in demand for Turkish steel products, particularly in European countries, indicates that the sector continues to increase its effectiveness in global markets.

Steel Sector Exports Highest from Istanbul

In Türkiye, the highest steel exports by province were made from Istanbul. Istanbul companies made a total of USD 641,269,000 in exports in September, making them the leader in the steel sector. Istanbul was followed by Hatay with USD 196,087,000 in exports, Kocaeli with USD 106,087,000, Ankara with USD 103,329,000 and Bursa with USD 93,504,000.

Istanbul's strong performance in steel exports not only increases its contribution to the national economy but also highlights the dominance of Istanbul-based companies in the sector.
