Türkiye's scrap imports increased by 6.3% in January-September period

Türkiye's scrap imports in September 2024 increased by 34.9% on annual basis and decreased by 26.8% on monthly basis.

Türkiye's scrap imports increased by 6.3% in January-September period

According to data compiled by SteelRadar from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Türkiye's scrap imports in September increased by 34.9% compared to the same month of the previous year, increasing from 1 million 67 thousand 189 tons to 1 million 439 thousand 614 tons. Compared to August, the previous month, it decreased by 26.8%.

Total scrap imports in the January-September period increased by 6.3% from 14 million 22 thousand 179 tons to 14 million 959 thousand 653 tons.

The U.S., the Netherlands and the United Kingdom ranked in the top 3 in Türkiye's scrap imports in the mentioned month. Scrap imports from the U.S. amounted to 474,381 tons, followed by the Netherlands with 217,352 tons, the UK with 152,647 tons, Belgium with 79,423 tons and Lithuania with 27,494 tons.
