The decrease in iron ore imports, which was recorded as 6,168 tons in the same period of 2022, drew attention in the same period of this year. With this decline, it was observed that Türkiye's iron ore imports have experienced a serious decline.
According to data compiled by Steel Radar from TUIK, iron ore imports, which were 671 tons in July 2022, decreased by 5.45% to 635 tons in the same month of this year. It was also noted that the import figure, which was 723 tons in June, dropped by 12.17% in July.
Looking at the countries importing iron ore, Brazil is the leader of Türkiye's iron ore imports with 461,760 tons. Although Brazil's import figures seem to be relatively stable compared to last month, they increased by 302% compared to the same period last year.
Romania takes the second place in the ranking. While Türkiye did not import any iron ore from Romania last year, 73,119 tons of exports were recorded in July.
Uzbekistan imported 79,209 tons of iron ore in July last year, down by 11% to 70,553 tons in the same month this year. There were no iron ore imports in June.
The countries with the lowest iron ore imports were Italy and the US.
