Imports of semi-finished products in Türkiye increased by 18.58% in 2023 compared to the previous year, while exports were down by 75.25%.
SteelRadar's data compiled from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) reveals that Türkiye's imports of semi-finished products increased by 18.58% yearly to 5.9 million tons in 2023. In 2022, imports amounted to 5 million tons.
On a monthly basis, Türkiye's imports of semi-finished products decreased by 10.91% in December. Compared to the previous month, it decreased by 21.50% to 390,288 tons.
The highest imports were recorded in May, while the lowest imports were recorded in September. In 2022, the highest imports were recorded in November, and the lowest imports were observed in May.
Major decrease in exports
On the other hand, Türkiye's exports of semi-finished products declined by 75.25% on a yearly basis to 188,444 tons. In 2022, this figure amounted to 761,419 tons.
In December, there was a 48.82% monthly decrease. Compared to the previous month, exports increased by 11.42% to 9,665 tons.
The highest monthly exports were recorded in September, while the lowest exports were recorded in April.
