The steps taken to develop the commercial and economic relations between Türkiye and Romania have started to show results.
The collaborations, especially in the fields of energy and construction, highlight Romania's position in Türkiye's exports.
Meanwhile, a High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council was established between Türkiye and Romania.
Six agreements were signed between the two countries in the presence of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu.
Romania became the country to which Türkiye increased its exports the most in value terms in the January-June period of the year.
Türkiye's foreign sales to this country increased by 856.8 million dollars in the first half of the year compared to the same period last year.
In terms of export growth, Romania was followed by Iraq with 739.2 million dollars, the Netherlands with 714.1 million dollars, the USA with 453.4 million dollars, and Italy with 374.9 million dollars.
In the first half of the year, exports amounted to 5 billion 35.7 million dollars to Iraq, approximately 4 billion dollars to the Netherlands, 6.5 billion dollars to the USA, and 5.9 billion dollars to Italy.
During the same period, the countries to which Türkiye made the most foreign sales were listed as Germany, the USA, theUnited Kingdom, Italy, Iraq, Spain, France, the Netherlands, and Romania.
In the January-June period, foreign sales amounted to 8.9 billion dollars to Germany, 5.9 billion dollars to the United Kingdom, and 4.7 billion dollars to Spain.
The chemicals and chemical products sector was the top exporting sector to Romania in the first half of the year with 1.1 billion dollars.
Sales to this country included the steel sector with 771.6 million dollars, the automotive industry with 514.1 million dollars, iron and non-ferrous metals with 210.8 million dollars, and fresh fruit and vegetables sector with 162.2 million dollars.
In the first half of the year, companies in Istanbul made the highest exports to Romania with 2.1 billion dollars.
Istanbul was followed by Bursa with 401.3 million dollars, Kocaeli with 375.8 million dollars, Hatay with 190.1 million dollars, and Izmir with 106.6 million dollars.
