Istanbul Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters' Association has announced the results of the 'TR-METALENDEKS' for the month of September, which includes the export growth rates of the sector and expectations for the next month. In the index, which showed a decrease in quantity and value compared to the previous month, an increase in unit prices was observed. According to the data for September, there was a 17% decrease in iron and steel exports in the first half of 2023 and a 12% decrease in metal industry exports.

"The metal industry export quantity and value index decreased in September after the increase in August, with the quantity dropping from 137.24 points to 128.32 points and the value dropping from 158.19 points to 151.05 points. Export unit prices, after the correction in Turkish Lira, were $4.31/kg in August, and they reached $4.40/kg in September. Çetin Tecdelioğlu, the Vice President of the Türkiye Exporters Assembly (TİM) and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Istanbul Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters' Association (İDDMİB), shared the information that the ferrous and non-ferrous metals sector's exports reached $9.5 billion in 9 months. He said, "We must continue sustainable production. Türkiye is strategically located in a very important position. There are 55 countries within a 4-hour radius. By making good use of such opportunities, we believe that Turkey will definitely get a share of the global market and grow.
