Turkey imported 1.73 million tons of steel scrap in May 2023, with a decrease of 22.4% compared to the same month in 2022 . In the month under review, supplies from the United States amounted to 486 thousand tons with a decrease of 1.5%, from the Netherlands - 122 thousand tons with a decrease of 35.5% and from Germany - 110 thousand tons with an increase of 34.3%, all comparisons on an annual basis.
In the five months since the beginning of the year, Turkish imports of steel scrap amounted to 8.4 million tons, a decrease of 23% compared to the same period last year, with the United States, the Netherlands and Belgium as the main suppliers.
