In the first half of this year, Turkey imported around 2.43 million tons of scrap from the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium. European countries experiencing disruptions due to rising temperatures because of global warming were unable to guarantee the delivery of the shipments.
The low water level of the river Rhine with the decrease in precipitation has put European scrap suppliers, who supply their scrap mainly from river transportation, in a difficult situation. Suppliers are requested to reduce loadings on barges.
