In the first ten months of this year, Turkey imported approximately 2 million tons of logs and blooms in total, down 18 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. In this period, the value of imports decreased by 8.6 percent to approximately 1.4 billion USD.
Among these, the top three sources of imports were Russia (about 1.28 million tons, 9.5 percent year-on-year decrease), Oman (about 138,000 tons, 50 percent year-on-year increase) and Ukraine (about 110,000 tons, 66 percent year-on-year decrease).
In October alone, Turkey's billet and blum imports amounted to approximately 239,400 tons, down 22.5 percent month on month and 227 percent year on year. These imports amounted to USD 137 million, up 17.2 percent month on month and 157 percent year on year.
