There is hope for a deal in Ukraine talks

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov made positive statements regarding the talks between Ukraine and Russia.

"Peace talks with Ukraine are difficult, but there is hope for reconciliation," Lavrov told RBC TV.

Noting that Ukraine's neutral position is a serious matter of discussion, Lavrov also expressed that they welcome the mediation positions of countries that do not impose sanctions on Russia.

Swedish model to Ukraine
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Ukraine's offer to become a neutral country by keeping its own army "could be considered as a kind of compromise". These statements by Peskov pointed to possible progress in the peace negotiations.

Peskov did not provide further details, confirming that the Swedish or Austrian-style model of neutrality is being discussed in the ongoing negotiations with Ukraine.

Putin criticized Ukraine
Lavrov's statements came after Russian President Vladimir Putin's criticisms of Ukraine.

Russian President Putin said that Ukraine "does not take a serious stance on finding mutually acceptable solutions" in talks with Moscow
The Kremlin told Russian President Vladimir Putin's European Council President Charles Michel that Ukraine "did not take a serious stance on finding mutually acceptable solutions" in talks with Moscow to end the war.
