Tosyalı Holding will be the company with the world's largest rooftop SPP by reaching an installed power of 140 megawatts with the solar power plant (SPP) to be established on a total area of 632 thousand square meters in all its facilities at the same time.
According to the statement made by the company, the power plants within the scope of the project will be gradually planned and put into operation as they are completed. The first phase of the project with 85 megawatts of power will be completed in 7 months, and the entirety will be completed in April 2023.
The solution partners of the Tosyalı Holding project are SolarAPEX, one of the leading institutions in the field of solar power plant turnkey installation services, and Huawei, the largest global smart product supplier in the solar energy field.
Fuat Tosyalı, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tosyalı Holding, whose views were included in the statement, stated that sustainability is the most important agenda item of Tosyalı Holding.
Stating that Roof GES projects will not only be the largest in the world in its field, but also allow the world's cleanest steel production as it prevents carbon emissions of 116 million 525 thousand kilograms per year, Tosyalı made the following assessments:
"As Tosyalı Holding, our goal is to reduce the use of fossil fuels to the lowest possible level. In line with this strategy, we will start to use hydrogen in iron and steel production for the first time in Turkey in the coming period. We will also start using hydrogen instead of fossil fuels. Some of the electricity we will generate from the SPP we have established will be hydrogen-focused. In this respect, this project will be our most important milestone on the way to our zero carbon target.”
Tosyalı noted that the Tosyalı Roof GES projects, with an investment amount of 71 million dollars, will not only be the world's largest installed power in its field, but will also become the world's largest rooftop solar power plant with an annual production of 250 million kilowatt-hours.
Huawei Turkey Senior Manager Li Jing also stated that they support Turkey's global steel producer Tosyalı Holding's project, which is the world's largest rooftop solar power plant.
Emphasizing that as a corporate citizen of Turkey, they do their best for green transformation and contribute to Turkey's zero carbon target, Jing said:
"I am also happy that the timing of this important project coincides with Huawei's 20th year in Turkey. Huawei Turkey has created a strong corporate structure in 20 years by supporting the development of information technologies and green energy in our country. We have developed a strong corporate structure with our valuable business partners such as Tosyalı Holding and SolarApex. With this cooperation, we are more confident in creating value for Turkey."
