The South Korean government invited the United States to negotiate!

South Korea wants to improve the supply conditions of steel products to the USA.

The South Korean government invited the United States to negotiate!

The South Korean government urged the US to negotiate US steel tariffs. Trade Minister Yeo Han Ko said the reasons for this were the signing of an agreement between the EU and the US on replacing steel tariffs with quotas for European companies and the US consent to negotiate a similar issue with Japan.

According to the minister, European and Japanese rolled products are a competitor to Korea in the US market. Therefore, the change in supply conditions for companies from the European Union and the United States will affect the work of Korean metallurgists.

In 2018, South Korea agreed with the US not to impose steel tariffs on its suppliers. However, the size of the quota was only 70% of the average supply in 2015-2017.
