In the first half of this year, the situation with the consumption of ferrous scrap in Russia remained at the same level as in the same period in 2022 - 10 million 394 thousand tons. At the same time, scrap collection increased by 6% and reached 11 million 173 thousand tons.
Scrap exports increased noticeably to Kazakhstan and Belarus - by 143%, and to countries outside the EAEU - by 73%.
However, the stabilization has occurred at a rather low level, as the first half of 2022 showed a record decrease in scrap collection by 29% compared to the same period in 2021, and scrap consumption in the country decreased by 20%.
