Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced the building permit statistics for the second quarter of 2023.
Accordingly, the number of buildings for which building permits were issued by municipalities increased by 5.7 percent, the number of flats by 31.3 percent and the surface area by 25.6 percent on an annual basis.
While the total area of the buildings for which building permits were issued was 38.6 million square meters, 20 million square meters of this was residential, 10.1 million square meters was non-residential and 8.4 million square meters was common use area.
According to the purpose of use, residential buildings with 2 or more apartments had the highest share with 25.6 million square meters. This was followed by industrial buildings and warehouses with 3.9 million square meters.
Certificate of occupancy permit
In the occupancy permits issued by municipalities, the number of buildings decreased by 22.1 percent, the number of flats by 28.5 percent and the surface area by 28.6 percent in the said quarter compared to the same period of 2022.
While the total area of these buildings was calculated as 21.1 million square meters, 12.3 million square meters of this was residential, 4.4 million square meters was non-residential and 4.4 million square meters was common use areas.
According to the purpose of use, residential buildings with 2 or more apartments had the highest share with 15.6 million square meters. This was followed by buildings with one flat with 1.4 million square meters.
