Within the scope of the “Open Source Design Center and Collaboration Platform Project” carried out by the Machine Tools Industrialists and Businessmen Association (TİAD) with the support of the Istanbul Development Agency, the “Open Design Istanbul Industrial Design” aims to encourage industrial designers and industrialists to cooperate more. MAKTEK Eurasia, which will be organized by Tüyap with the cooperation of TİAD and MİB at Tüyap Fair and Congress Center in Istanbul, is preparing to bring together the sector players of the Eurasia region for the 7th time on September 26 - October 1, 2022. Focusing on machine tools, metal - sheet - processing machines, holders - cutting tools, quality control - measuring systems, CAD / CAM, PLM software and production technologies, the fair spread over 14 halls, mainly from Russia, the Balkans, North Africa, Europe. Approximately 70,000 visitors from 120 countries are expected.
Important event of MAKTEK Eurasia: MAKTEKVERSE
A universe called “MAKTEKVERSE” will be created in hall 13 of MAKTEK Eurasia 2022, where visitors and participants will have the opportunity to experience new technologies virtually. Virtual reality products have many uses in the manufacturing industry. For example, thanks to virtual reality, additions or subtractions can be made on ongoing industrial studies and product output performance can be measured; high standards for efficiency and human health can be achieved at every stage of production. Employees can receive on-the-job training with virtual reality glasses, thus eliminating the risk of work accidents during assembly and disassembly orientations, and measuring errors in learning development. Especially when a factory is being built, training can begin before the physical installation of the factory.

MAKTEK Avrasya OPEN DESIGN ISTANBUL will host the award ceremony
In line with the project objectives, “Open Design Istanbul Industrial Design Competition” was organized by TİAD in order to convey the importance of industrial design to large audiences. For industrial design within the scope of the competition; Three main concepts were determined, namely CNC Lathe, CNC Machining Center, and 3D Printer.
The awards of the projects that will be ranked in the competition will be given under the sponsorship of MAKTEK Eurasia Fair and Tüyap. In the competition; 50.000 TL will be awarded to the 1st place project owner, 30.000 TL to the 2nd place project owner, and 20.000 TL to the 3rd place project owner.

Growing rapidly with the support of the Ministry of Commerce, MAKTEK Eurasia has a high potential for companies that want to establish cooperation between countries and improve their commercial relations.
According to TUIK data, the machinery sector, which grew by 28 percent in production, 35 percent in exports and 41 percent in imports, in 2021 compared to 2020, is a critical sector for the Turkish economy. Most exports were to Russia, USA, Poland and Germany, while imports were from Taiwan, Germany, China and Japan. The sector continued its growth in production and exports in the first quarter of 2022. The machine tools industry, on the other hand, made a direct contribution of 22.5 billion USD to exports with a usage volume of 1.69 billion USD for 2021.
