Tata Steel raises consolidated steel production in April-June

India-based steel producer Tata Steel increased its consolidated steel production by 12.6% to 7.96 million tons in the April-June period of 2024 (Q1 of the 2024/2025 fiscal year) compared to the same period in 2023, according to the company's provisional data.

Tata Steel's India operations reported a 5% increase in crude steel production, reaching 5.25 million tonnes in the first quarter of fiscal 2024-25 (April-June 2024) compared to 5.02 million tonnes in the first quarter of fiscal 2023-24.

According to the company, Tata Steel India's deliveries increased 3.13% year on year to 4.94 million tonnes, its best sales ever recorded in the first quarter.

Tata Steel Netherlands produced 1.72 million tons of liquid steel in the quarter, an 82.97% year-on-year increase and a 16.21% quarter-on-quarter rise. Deliveries were 1.52 million tons, up 11% year-on-year and 6.3% quarter-on-quarter, driven by improved production.

In the UK, Tata Steel's liquid steel production for the quarter was 0.68 million tons, down 19.99% year-on-year but up 3.03% quarter-on-quarter. Deliveries were 0.69 million tons, up 8.69% year-on-year and stable compared to the previous quarter. Operations at Blast Furnace 5 at Port Talbot have ceased, with the last liquid iron produced on July 4, and the facility is being safely decommissioned.

In Thailand, Tata Steel's production rose 19.23% y-o-y to 0.31 million tons, while deliveries increased 14.81% y-o-y to 0.31 million tons in the first quarter of FY2024-25.

Tata Steel Group is one of the world's leading steel companies with an annual crude steel capacity of 35 million tons.
