Minister Bolat stated that the decision, which Syria put into effect as of this week, will create an important opportunity for Türkiye in terms of exports. Hygienic products are among the products for which customs duties are reduced.

Economic Cooperation Steps in Türkiye-Syria Relations

A delegation of the Ministry of Trade held a series of meetings with Syrian officials in Damascus recently. As of January 11, 2025, it was decided to re-evaluate the customs duties that Syria applies equally to all countries and at all border gates for certain products.

During the talks, it was agreed to start negotiations to revive the Türkiyey-Syria Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which was suspended in 2011, within the framework of a comprehensive economic partnership. This development is considered as an important milestone in terms of strengthening trade relations between the two countries.
