Susie Burrage OBE, who took over from Tom Bird, said: "It is a true honor to accept the presidency in the birthplace of the BIR during a record-breaking convention" and continued; “My mission is; Leaning on this incredible platform created by Tom Bird, the BIR Executive Committee and the secretariat led by Arnaud Brunet.” Susie Burrage stated that her aim is to maximize the environmental impact they create by making the most of their professional recognition, and to showcase recycling as an industry that is advanced in terms of sustainability, rich in innovation and economically vital.
Susie Burrage OBE, in addition to her new role, has held many senior positions; At the Dubai convention in 2022, she was also appointed Chairperson of the BIR Ambassadors Committee. Burrage is also an active member of the World Council of Recycling Associations and is the patron of the Bureau of Middle East Recycling. Additionally, she has run Recycled Products since 2001 and has been president of the British Metals Recycling Association since 2016.
The changes announced at the General Assembly meeting was not limited to the presidency. Dhawal Shah of Metco Ventures, which has been involved in many activities for the development of the metal recycling industry in India, has been appointed as the new treasurer. Dhawal Shah, who is also a member of the BIR Executive Committee, has been serving as the organization's Vice President since June 2021 in his capacity as President of the Non-Ferrous Metals Division.
