Suez Steel produces first bloom in Middle East

In a groundbreaking achievement for Egypt and the entire Middle East, Suez Steel has successfully produced its first hot bloom with a cross section of 360x300 millimeters. This achievement not only marks a first for the region, but also solidifies Egypt's position as a leading steel producer.

The production took place at the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), where Suez Steel’s advanced facilities are located. The factory production process involved the use of Electric Arc Furnace (EAF), Ladle Refining Furnace (LRF), Vacuum Degassing (VD), and a Continuous Casting Machine (CCM). Each stage was meticulously managed to ensure top-quality output. Suez Steel’s state-of-the-art facility boasts an impressive production capacity of 1.8 million tons.

The company commenced production within just 24 months of receiving the necessary permits, demonstrating remarkable efficiency. The project has created a total of 6,500 jobs—2,000 direct and 4,500 indirect—providing significant economic benefits to the region. Suez Steel’s new product offerings include rebar and wire rods in the Egyptian market, giving the company a competitive edge.

This achievement highlights Egypt’s commitment to advancing its steel industry to meet growing global demand. With the successful production of its first heat bloom, Suez Steel has set a new standard of excellence in the Middle East’s steel sector.
