Stellantis opens electric vehicle battery centre in Italy

The centre has been built with an investment of 40 million euros and is planned to play an important role for the future electric car models of the Stellantis brand.

One of the largest battery centres in Europe

The centre will focus on the design, testing and development of electric car battery packs that Stellantis will produce in-house. It will also work on battery modules, high voltage cells and software development. This new facility has an area of 8 thousand square metres and is positioned as one of the largest Battery Technology Centres in Europe.

The Mirafiori Battery Technology Centre has more than 100 employees, who will perform critical tasks such as climate stress tests and battery lifetime endurance tests. Battery management system (BMS) software development and calibration will also be carried out here. The centre will also provide facilities for the disassembly, analysis and comparison of battery packs and cells.

In addition to this centre in Italy, Stellantis is also building a Battery Technology Centre in North America in Windsor-Ontario, Canada, which will include 6 giga-factories.
