In this period, total steel production increased by 237 tonnes compared to the previous month and reached 293,107 tonnes. The annual growth rate of steel production was 10.84 per cent.
Overall, steel production in January-February 2024 was 585,978 tonnes, almost equal to the same period last year, showing steady growth in the country's industrial sector.
However, the flat-rolled steel sector showed a decline in volume in February 2024. Production decreased by 25,574 tonnes compared to the previous month to 163,530 tonnes. This represents a 17% decrease in production compared to the same period last year.
In the first two months of 2024, steel producers in Kazakhstan produced a total of 352,634 tonnes of flat-rolled products. This represents a decrease of 17.3% compared to the same period last year.
