According to WV Stahl, steel producers in Germany increased their steel production by 4.4% in February 2024 compared to February 2023, reaching 3.12 million tons.
It also increased by 1.8% compared to the previous month, January 2024.
Monthly steel production in converters increased by 5.1% compared to the previous year. Compared to January, a 2.6% decrease was observed and 2.15 million tons was reached.
When examined on an annual basis, steel production in converters decreased by 0.9% to 25.63 million tons, and in electric arc furnaces it decreased by 10.8% to 9.81 million tons on an annual basis. In January-February, Germany increased its steel production by 4.6% annually to 6.19 million tons, converters by 4.3% to 4.35 million tons, and EDP by 5.6% annually. It was stated that it increased to 1.84 million tons.
It is stated that pig iron production in the country increased by 6.4% annually, but reached 2.03 million tons with a monthly decrease of 1%, while in Germany, rolled steel production increased by 8.4% annually and at the same time monthly. It was observed that it reached 2.85 million tons, with an increase of 4.7%. It was noted that there was a decrease in production volumes in 2023 and a slight increase in the first two months of 2024.
Germany, one of the world's largest steel producers, will reduce its steel production by 3.9% in 2023 compared to 2022, to 35.4 million tons, and thus rank 8th in the World Steel Production list. The country will experience an increase in steel production by 2024. It is wondered what kind of results it will achieve when it is completed this year and where it will rank on the list.
