Snop signs MoU with Salzgitter for CO2-reduced steel

Automotive supplier Snop has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH to utilise CO2-reduced steel in the SALCOS® process.

During the SALCOS® transformation programme, Salzgitter will gradually convert its steel production to a hydrogen-based process and will aim to achieve virtually CO2-free production by 2033 by replacing the traditional blast furnace route with a production route of direct reduction furnaces and electric arc furnaces.
