The melting shop will also require a six-wire billet wheel and a ladle processing station. This part of the contract was awarded to another company within SMS Group-Concast AG, Switzerland.
Details of the equipment from SMS Demag include the converter vessel, trunnion ring, lamella suspension system plus converter tilt drive unit, a complete dedusting system plus electrical equipment and automation system, including Level 2 for the melting shop.
The entire project plant will be managed by SMS. Neelanchal expects the new billet caster to have an annual capacity of 917,000 tonnes with dimensions of 100 x 150 mm. They also expect the plant to start billet production in spring 2008.
