Baosteel Desheng, a subsidiary of China Baowu Steel Group, operating in Fuzhou, China, aims to increase the purity and quality of steel while increasing its production capacity to 417,000 tons per year with its new VOD system. The VOD unit, which has a capacity of 120 tons, will minimize carbon and other impurities and contribute to the production of high quality steel, which is especially in demand in the automotive, aerospace and construction sectors.
SMS Group and Baosteel Engineering and Technology Group collaborated on the project, which was carried out under a comprehensive EPC contract covering design, manufacturing, installation and commissioning. The project, which started in June 2020, met the highest quality and safety standards.
