Saudi Arabia continues to work for carbon neutral

Declaring that it continues to work by reducing its methane emissions by 30 percent until 2030, Saudi Arabia introduced a new project in its carbon neutral targets with its new study.

Saudi Arabia continues to work for carbon neutral

Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who launched the “Riyadh Sustainability Strategy” last year at the Green Saudi Initiative Forum, accelerated his work after he stated that they aim to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2060.

Continuing its work, Saudi Arabia announced that it will establish a Carbon Capture and Storage Center (CSS), the largest of its kind in the Middle East. The joint agreement was signed between the national oil giant Saudi Aramco and the Ministry of Energy.

The largest project in the Middle East in its field

As the center will initially capture and store 9 million metric tons of carbon dioxide per year, it will be the largest project in the Middle East in this area. The place where the facility will be established will be Jubayl, the industrial city of Saudi Arabia. It is aimed that the center will be operational in 2027 and 44 million tons of CSS by 2035.

With this project, Saudi Arabia aims to minimize the damage to the environment and human health.
