In the first quarter of 2024, steel production in Russia fell by 3.2% year-on-year to 14.2 million tonnes. However, according to the Federal State Statistics Service, there was an 8.7% year-on-year increase in March compared to February.
Production of rolled products in the first quarter fell to 15.3 million tonnes, down 2.3% year-on-year. However, in March, the output of such products increased by 7.5 per cent year-on-year, while in the year to March 2023 it fell by 5.1% year-on-year.
Russian pipe mills also produced 3 million tonnes of pipes and steel fittings in the first quarter of 2024, down 8.8% year-on-year. In March, the sector recorded a growth of 15.3 % compared to the previous month, but a decline of 3.2 % compared to the same month last year.
