In the report titled "Current Situation in the Economy" published by the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, it was stated that the country's economy grew by 5.6 percent in January compared to the previous year.
The report states that the Russian economy grew by 4.1 percent in February and 1.3 percent in March, while the economy shrank by 3 percent in April.
In the report, it was stated that despite the comprehensive sanctions against Russia, the country's economy grew by 1.7 percent in the first four months of the year compared to last year.
The Russian economy is expected to shrink by 10 to 12 percent this year due to Western sanctions.
