The EU's five major steel providers have changed. Before the war, Russia and Ukraine were the EU's largest steel exporters, but now they have been replaced by Taiwan and South Korea with an export rate of 51%. At the same time, Turkey, China and India have also become the EU's leading steel export suppliers.
According to market participants, global steel consumption in 2022 decreased by 2.0% to 1.795 billion tons. By 2023, global steel demand is expected to increase by 0.4% y-o-y to reach 1.801 billion tonnes.
