With the decision of the Information Technologies and Communication Authority published in the Official Gazette, the procedures and principles regarding the obligations of social network providers were determined.
Accordingly, foreign-based social network providers with daily access to more than 1 million in Turkey are required to designate at least one real or legal person authorized in the country as a representative.
User data will be stored in Turkey
It will also be mandatory for Turkish applications to be made by people for the content offered by social network providers to be answered in Turkish within 48 hours.
Social network providers will also take the necessary measures to store users' data in Turkey.
If the representative is not determined, an administrative fine of 10 million liras
If a representative is not determined, an administrative fine of 10 million liras will be imposed on the social network provider, and if a representative is not determined within 30 days, an administrative fine of 30 million liras will be applied.
If the applications made by the individuals are not answered, the social network provider will be fined 5 million liras.
